Hello new Spartan,
We are excited to welcome you to Michigan State University and New Student Orientation (NSO)! We understand you will begin your academic journey at Michigan State in the summer semester. If this is not accurate, and you plan to start your journey in a different semester, it is important that you contact the Office of Admissions to update your status.
The virtual NSO experience for students starting their MSU courses during the summer semester will begin on April 19, 2021. The first day of classes for the Summer 2021 Semester Full Session and Session One is May 17th. On April 19th you will have access to the NSO Experience community in MSU’s learning management system, Desire 2 Learn (D2L). You will need to complete the modules in this community prior to meeting with your academic advisor for your advising and enrollment appointment. You will be meeting online with your academic advisor on May 13th to discuss your major, your course selections, and enroll in summer session courses. Your advisor will be emailing your MSU email account (e.g., email@example.com) with the instructions and information about that appointment. You will also be hearing from a current MSU student who will be available to help guide you through your NSO experience and answer questions you may have. Be sure to connect with them!
We look forward to working with you to have a smooth transition to MSU. Remember to check your MSU email account regularly, as all communications from the University are sent to that account. Additional information and resources, and an FAQ page, are available on our website. If you need assistance or still have questions, feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 517.355.8490 and we are happy to help.
We will “see” you soon! Go GREEN!
