Orientation Staff Job Description

Qualifications:
- Be an undergraduate student at MSU for Spring Semester 2019 with a minimum 2.5 cumulative MSU grade point average
- Be fully available to participate in one of two training programs:
- Spring Semester Training: March 13, 20, 27: April 3, 10, 17 (6:00 pm – 9:00 pm)
- May Training: May 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30 (3:00 pm – 6:00 pm)
- Be fully available for an additional one week long training process June 3 through June 7
- Be fully available 15-40 hours per week for the Summer New Student Orientation Programs June 10 – July 22
- Be fully available for the Fall New Student Orientation Programs August 19 – August 23
All exceptions to the qualifications stated above are at the discretion of the NSO Leadership Team and must be communicated and agreed upon prior to the employee’s start date.
Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities may include any of the following:
- Check students in at the beginning of each new program and check students out at the end of each program.
- Greet students and parents/family, answer questions, direct traffic flow around Orientation, help students navigate through the Orientation Schedule.
- Assist students through the course enrollment process, ensure students are taking approved courses, and provide guidance navigating the course enrollment system.
- Lead small groups of students, facilitate group discussions and connections between students.
- Present information regarding academic expectations, university life, living on campus, and other transition topics in an accurate and positive way to new students and parents/families.
Remuneration:
- $10.00 per hour; paychecks distributed bi-weekly
- Both Part-Time AND Full-Time opportunities
- Staff who work two consecutive shifts will be provided lunch
