Message Students Receive after Registering for NSO- Beginning March 15, 2021

Dear Student:

This message confirms your registration in the New Student Orientation (NSO) experience. NSO is a multi-step process which will include modules for you to complete on your own (asynchronously) in MSU’s learning management system, Desire2Learn (D2L), as well as synchronous interactions with current MSU student, academic advisor(s), and other incoming students at various times throughout the summer. This model of NSO is brand new, so anyone who has attended MSU previously will not know about this process.

We are excited to have you join the Spartan family. MSU is committed to helping each student achieve success. Attending MSU’s New Student Orientation (NSO) is an early step in the college transition process.

In May, you will begin to receive email messages to your MSU email address that include details about New Student Orientation, and additional information about the steps you will need to complete for NSO. Family Orientation will also be online, so please have your family or caregiver(s) register for their experience as well.

Throughout your New Orientation experience, you will connect with your community, learn more about MSU and your program of study, set personal and academic goals, meet with an academic advisor and enroll in courses, get to know other new students, and learn about strategies for student success. For the experience to be the best for you, please complete this survey, right away, we need this survey information from you to be sure you have everything you need to be successful.

Answers to many Frequently Asked Questions can be found on the FAQ page of our website, which can be found here: https//orientation.msu.edu/orientationfaqs/orientation-registration-faqs. Please visit orientation.msu.edu or contact the Orientation team at 517-355-8490 or nso@msu.edu if you have any questions about orientation or your transition to college. If no one is available, we encourage you to leave a voicemail and one of our team members will get back with you as soon as possible. We are still working remotely, so you may hear children or pets! Thank you for your understanding.
