Wondering what you need to do to prepare for your student’s transition at MSU? Be sure to review the interactive checklist below to set you and your student up for success as they transition into the MSU community.

- Make sure you are receiving the Family and Supporter newsletters
- Review the Family and Supporter Orientation Overview Page
- Review the Preparing Families for Orientation page
Checklist Part 2: Engagement Opportunities
- Read Family and Supporter bi-weekly newsletters to find information about places to go in the Greater Lansing area, transitional tips for you and your student, key campus resources, and important dates
- Follow NSO social media for updates, resources, and series like "What I Wish My Family and Supporter Knew"
- Engage with the Family and Supporter Webinar Series
- Participate in the in-person Family and Supporter Orientation Experience
Checklist Part 3: Review and Additional Resources
- Review the Family and Supporter Orientation Resources page
- Review past Family webinars, social media tips, and recommended lists for families/supporters
- Connect with Spartan Family Connections to join the larger family and supporter network at MSU

Checklist Part 4: Your Student's Orientation
- Student has completed Checkpoint 1 - submitting academic assessments and surveys
- Student has completed Checkpoint 2 - D2L Experience course
- Student has completed Checkpoint 3 - Connected with an advisor and discussed advising and enrollment
- student has completed Checkpoint 4 - student engagement opportunities
- Received information on Checkpoint 5 - in-person NSO experience for new students, families, and supporters
